Frequently asked questions about industrial rope access

What is industrial rope access and when is it needed? +

Industrial rope access is the set of rope techniques for working at height on industrial structures — chimneys, towers, tanks, overhead cranes, facades, silos and offshore structures. It is needed when access by conventional scaffolding is unfeasible, slow or more costly. The technique follows the IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) standard and NR-35 from the Ministry of Labor.

What is IRATA certification and why does it matter? +

IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) is the international certification standard for rope access work at height. There are three levels: Technician Level I (supervised operation), Technician Level II (independent operation and supervision) and Technician Level III (management and advanced supervision). IRATA certification guarantees that professionals have been trained and assessed by an independent body, reducing the risk of serious accidents at height.
